A high-performance engine deserves a high performance cooling system. The 557's is closed looped - the most advanced, and first ever for an outboard motor. Keeping it COOL, ethylene glycol continuously flows through the engine in a closed-loop. Seawater with its corrosive impurities is pumped by twin counter-rotating gear driven impellers, through engineered coolant and oil heat exchangers, never contacting internal engine components.
